Somatic Individual Therapy

I work with folks who are experiencing a variety of challenges as a result of trauma. This includes anxiety, depression, grief, low self-worth, difficulties in relationship, harsh inner-critics, perfectionism, black-and-white thinking, and chronic shame and guilt.

Whether these challenges are a result of trauma, neurodivergence, or a particularly activating time in your life, we can start to parse out what you may need to feel better supported in your day-to-day life.

What does “somatic” mean?

Simply put somatic means “of the body.” In our culture, we tend to be thinkers rather than feelers which can lead us to intellectualizing our emotions. If we could think our way out of our feelings, I strongly believe we would have by now!

Perhaps you already have a strong sense of why you are the way you are. You’ve done a lot of talking, and you understand your story, but you’re struggling to make deep, sustainable changes in your life.

This is where somatic therapy can be most helpful. Through repairing our nervous systems, creating safety within our bodies, and learning how to feel and thus process our emotions, we can begin to see real changes in our lives.

How does it work?

Using a variety of modalities and skills clients can expect to explore the relationship they have with themselves. This relationship, both mind and body, is crucial for our well-being.

Through inner child work, parts work, mindfulness practices, nervous system regulation, and self-compassion skills we can begin to better meet our own needs. Creating safety within ourselves allows for deeper healing and deeper connections in our lives.
